Fighting alongside these mortal servants of the [[Dark Gods]] are the [[Daemon]]s of the Warp, summoned by blasphemous rituals and the spilling of blood. These are a force that few can withstand, for dread and despair proceeds them, and they fight with unnatural strength and speed.
Leading these hosts into battle are the mighty [[Aspiring Champion]]s - [[Space Marines]] who betrayed the [[Emperor]] ten thousand years ago during the [[Horus Heresy]]. These power hungry individuals have departed from their Legions to gather hosts of [[mutants]] and traitors, as they endeavor endeavour to carve out their own dominions in the Eye of Terror. However, when Abaddon leads a Black Crusade they will put aside their petty wars and rivalries for a common cause.
When engaging the Lost and the Damned, Imperial commanders will be assaulted by a tide of filth and blasphemy that attacks again and again, regardless of its losses, with seemingly inexhaustible numbers. Such a foe is unnerving to face, even for hardened veterans, and disease and madness precede the advancing hordes. These assailants can be by anything from shambling hordes of animated corpses, to Traitor Guardsmen still bearing Imperial insignia on their blood streaked armour.
