An '''Imperial Guard Sniper''' is a special class of [[Guardsman]] whose armament includes a [[Sniper Rifle]], which is usually a [[lasgun]] with attached optics and a longer barrel for long-ranged fire (colloquially known as a '''long-las''') though some have been known to carry a [[needle las]] or a solid slug throwing weapon. These soldiers are recruited from among the finest sharpshooters in an Imperial Guard regiment and take up their positions hours, or even days before a battle commences. This gives them time to both find a spot with the best concealment, lanes of fire, and to survey the battlefield's surroundings.
