Tanakreg was known for its formidable air-defense defence network1 and its immense salt mines. It was also home to a Necron Monolith, buried deep within the planet's crust.
It was attacked in date by the Word Bearers Legion led by a Dark Apostle by the name of Jarulek. The local PDF, numbering approximately 200,000 men, was subsequently slaughtered. They believed that the Necron tomb was a weapon that could be used against the Imperium of Man, in order to disable Imperial warp travel.1 They unknowingly unleashed the Necrons, and it can be reasoned that this was one of the first encounters with the Necrons themselves.
