Background
Storm Trooper squads are created and indoctrinated at a Schola Progenium facility where they are taught superior battle tactics and to use better equipment than the average guardsmen. Their training makes them more suitable for use in an assault or as an infiltrating force to carry out special objectives. Though they are no tougher than a standard Guardsman, their equipment makes them seem superior. As such, they are ridiculed by Guardsmen and given names such as 'Big Toy Soldiers' and 'Glory Boys'. These imply that Storm Troopers are always seeking out glory in the most dangerous missions possible. There is a general animosity between Guardsmen and Storm Troopers and many Guardsmen would prefer not to be compared with a Storm Trooper as they are considered dubious in character (always seeking glory) and arragant over the special equipment and abilities (targeters, grav chutes etc.).

Inquisition
The Inquisition maintians many training facilities similar to the Schola Progenium, arming and equipping soldiers to an extent comparable to those of the Inperial Guard. These soldiers, referred to as Inquisitorial Storm Troopers, usually form the mainstay of any Inquisitor's forces, supporting the more specialist troops such as Grey Knights or the Sisters of Battle.
