They are based on the [[Rhino ]] design, as are most Marine tanks. It mounts a [[Whirlwind multiple missile launcher]] on its turret, firing either tactical warheads or rapidly deploying minefields with the special 'Castellan' misslesmissiles. The Whirlwind design is not avalible available to [[Chaos Space Marines]], since the [[STC Technology ]] technology from which is was derived was discovered after the [[Horus Heresy]].¹ ===Hyperios variant===The '''Whirlwind Hyperios''' is a rarer version of the standard [[Whirlwind]], designed as an anti-aircraft vehicle. It mounts in place of the standard missile launcher, an anti-aircraft missile launcher designed to target and shoot down enemy aircraft. They are used when [[Thunderhawk Gunship]]s are not available to defend important positions from air attacks.²
