Special issue items are a type of battlesuit support system, weapon or wargear used by the Tau.

Special issue items
These items are relatively new systems used by battlesuits that are not mass-manufactured either because they are only for top commanders who have proved themselves in battle or because they are still undergoing field testing, or both. Because of this, it is rare to have even one of these items in an army. They can be support systems or Weapons
The support systems and weapons systems are mounted upon hard-points on a battlesuit (for more info see battlesuit support system) The wargear is integrated
