Specialist Games
| This article is about the 2000-2013' Specialist Games range; for the new name of the Forge World studio, see Specialist Design Studio. |
The Specialist Games Range was a trademarked term referring to games from Games Workshop set in the worlds of Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, and The Lord of the Rings. Those games were supported by the Fanatic Design Studio starting from the year 2000.[1]
They were aimed at those who were seeking a greater tactical challenge than what is provided by the core Games Workshop games.. It is in this way that Specialist Games mostly appealed to more veteran gamers.[1]

Games Range
The range is known for, as previously mentioned, games that take place in Games Workshop's core game universes, but most of the games contained within the Specialist Games range are meant for either massive conflicts with smaller miniatures (8-10mm) : (such as Epic, Warmaster, or The Battle of Five Armies) or small skirmishes (such as Mordheim, Inquisitor or Necromunda).[1]

Hobby support
Up until the 1990s there was frequent support for the Fanatic games range in the White Dwarf magazine. From 2000 to 2004, most hobby content was published in a number of short-lived hobby magazines.[1][2][3]
These individual magazines were replaced by Fanatic Magazine[5] and then ultimately by Fanatic Online in 2004, a free online-magazine which covered the entire Fanatic games range[6], until its cancellation in 2008. Since then, only a limited amount of gaming material for each game (such as rulebooks) is available for download on the official Games Workshop website.
