Spectoris is an Agri World in the Calixis Sector. It is primarily covered in water.[1][2]

History
Spectoris was first discovered by world surveyors of the Angevin Crusade, who noted it as a potential Agri World due to its large quantities of fish.[2]
Despite favourable reports, Spectoris was not actually utilised for food exports until 312.M41. In that year, the Sector Governor declared that the planet would be used to feed the growing population of the Calixis Sector. However, Imperial officials quickly found that the marine life of Spectoris was extremely hostile: they would regularly destroy any foreign objects that entered Spectoris's world-ocean. This stymied all large-scale collection efforts for several decades. Around this time, legends began to emerge that claimed that the ocean of Spectoris was sentient.[2]
Eventually, the Adeptus Mechanicus were called on to solve the "Spectoris Problem". Their frustrations surrounding the lack of progress led them to rely on the radical Genetor Halix Redole, one of the Organicist movement. After working on the problem for five years, Redole discovered a chemical that could attract coral-like bioforms native to Spectoris. By blending this chemical with a bonding agent derived from a Spectorin fish, Redole invented Coral Paste, an amalgam that encourages the presence of Spectorin coral and causes the coral to create a layer over the object the paste is applied to. Once layered, the native lifeforms of Spectoris ignore such an object.[2]
With Redole's discovery, mass harvesting could now commence. Coral Paste is applied to the hull of Enkaidan, the only habitat on Spectoris, as well as all ships that ply the world's ocean.[2]
