The Starkillers were a band of Eldar Corsairs that operated from bases within the asteroid belt of the Kabaal System.[1]

History

While they raided Imperial shipping, letting the crews go with little or no violence, their true purpose was to keep a vigil over the system and ensure the Imperials did not awaken the Sleeping Ones who slumbered beneath Kabaal III, known to the Eldar as Chi'athelai.[1]

In or nearly after 941.M41, newly instated Imperial Governor Bastor Nulaati had his forces drive the Starkillers out of the Kabaal asteroid belt, wiping out their fleet save a single Ghostship and its support craft, which fled into the Webway. Prompted by the end of their vigil, Eldrad Ulthran consulted with Ulthwé's Dome of Crystal Seers and received a vision of miners on Kabaal III awakening the Sleeping Ones, which would eventually attack Ulthwé in a thousand years.[1]

The Starkillers' remnants returned to the Kabaal system alongside a large space fleet made primarily of ships from Ulthwé, although they were joined by forces from Saim-Hann, Iyanden, Biel-Tan, Alaitoc, and others including Harlequin craft. Despite fierce resistance, the Eldar scoured all human life from the system and the surface of Kabaal III was reduced to an almost lifeless world, devoid of any but the most basic single-cell lifeforms.[1]
