Stefan Haines was an Imperial Guard Colonel that led the 428th Thracian Regiment to their complete annihilation in a battle against the T'au. Despite the fact that Haines had been warned beforehand that his Guardsmen were ill-equipped to deal with the Tau's weaponry, he pressed forward with the attack; insisting that his men were more than ready for the challenge. "They're doing fine!" was his last recorded utterance, before all communications with the Regiment was lost.[1]
