Succubus
The Succubi are the ruling elite of Wych Cults. They are impossibly beatiful and elegant as they stalk through the fiercest battles like they were born to it. Each one of these ultimate killers is known across Commorragh for the grace of their skills, and each succubus is an icon of the gladiatorial arenas. Succubi are sometimes called Archites but collectively they are known as ynnitach, or brides of death.[1]
Succubi are universally female. They have been so since the earliest days of Commorragh.[3] Male Drukhari who ascend to the rank will subsequently take on the expected female form, in both biology and identity.[4]
Overview
Each of these talented murderesses are held in high regard in Commorragh. They are superb in what they do, killing, and there are no scars on their skin to spoil their fair beauty. Each Succubus has risen to where they are by sheer strength and skill in the gladiatorial arenas of Commorragh, where they are treated as something akin to celebrities and achieve the closest thing to veneration that their race can have.[4]
Traditionally each Wych Cult is ruled by three of these Succubi, though some will have a dozen or more.[4] In practice, only one of them has true power over the cult, while the two others are constantly trying to outdo each other in magnificent gladiator spectacles. Unlike Archons of Dark Eldar Kabals, Succubi prefer straight decapitation when resolving their feuds, not the twist of the political knife.[1]
Succubi are intensely vain, and not without good reason. With each appearance they make in the arenas of Commorragh they draw enormous crowds who come to see their elegant murder. Yet the crowds demand not only a bloody spectacle, but one that is pleasing to their perverse aesthetic. Wyches with one too many scars will often find themselves up against insurmountable odds, their fellow combatants turning in unison on them as the crowds clamor for them to die first, purely for the crime of being imperfect. This has led Succubi to aggressively guard their beauty, and as a result are ravishing in their physical appearance. It is said that every movement of a Succubus is entrancing, and their sinuous, serpentine grace is hypnotic. A Succubus will do anything to maintain their appearance, including killing dozens before entering the arena so she may drink upon their anguish in order to reinvigorate herself.[4]
These masters of close combat are not content to just oversee their gladiatorial activities. As a way to enhance their skills, outmaneuver their rivals, or just enjoy themselves, they will frequently lead raids into Realspace.[3] While most Dark Eldar look upon other races with contempt, Succubi see an opportunity for a challenge. They will gladly duel a Space Marine Chapter Master or seek out a Ork Warboss or Tyranid Synapse Creature in order to claim their head as a trophy. Each personal conquest is yet another opportunity for the Succubus to prove their supremacy to their kin.[4]
Equipment
Succubi are able to take whatever they want from their cult's armoury. They might be armed with wych weapons, take haywire grenades or even blast pistols to destroy enemy vehicles during raids. It is not uncommon to see one wielding a Venom Blade, agoniser or Electrocorrosive Whip. Unlike archons, succubi never wear any armour or defensive gear other than a wychsuit as they trust in their ability to dodge even the most lethal attacks.[1]
