History
War in Heaven
Vaul brokered a deal with Khaine, who had taken Isha and Kurnous after they broke their own agreement with the war god, to release the two gods from from Khaine's dungeon in exchange for one hundred swords within one year.[2b] Vaul was able to complete all but the final sword, and the forge god secreted a mundane sword in among the hundred. Finding Vaul's deception only after releasing his two prisoners, Khaine unleashed his fury against the gods in a war that would become known as the War in Heaven.[4]
In a gambit to end Khaine's fury, Vaul reforged the final blade into the great weapon Anaris and battled the war god himself, but was defeated, crippled, and bound forever to his anvil, with Khaine claiming the blade for himself.[2b]
The great falcon Faolchú stole back the blade and delivered it to Eldanesh[1] and the hero challenged Khaine, but Khaine defeated Eldanesh handidly and re-claimed Anaris for himself – forever marking the war god's hand with Eldanesh's blood.[2a]
The Lost Blade
The sword was passed through the hands of Eldanesh's descendents, until it was finally lost in the Sea of Broken Tears by the last of his line, Inriam the Young.[6]
Fall of the Eldar
When Khaine was shattered by Slaanesh, Anaris was also shattered into the Shards of Anaris, said to rest among the craftworlds reforged into Asuryani blades.[3]
