Question about Deadlinks

Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum, a question. This article has an external deadlink to BlackLibrary.com. I've found a screenshot of this (now dead) webpage via the Wayback Machine. Do I substitute the Wayback Machine link for the deadlink in the article, leave the deadlink alone and add the Wayback Machine link also, or do nothing? The Help pages here don't address this subject, hence why I ask you. My Thanks, GrumpyDilettante (talk) 15:31, 25 May 2019 (MDT)

This happens frequently. Unfortunately. The correct way is to replace the dead external with an archived page link where possible. For example here: Black Library: Flesh Tearers (archived page) (last accessed 25/05/2019). In Nowiki: [https://web.archive.org/web/20171014015615/http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/flesh-tearers-ppb.html Black Library: Flesh Tearers (archived page)] ''(last accessed 25/05/2019)''. Unrelated remark: there is no need and point in adressing me personally for such questions, I do not get an alert from the system that my name has been mentioned to summon me. That only happens if somebody writes on my talk page. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 16:02, 25 May 2019 (MDT)
Yes, the Wayback Machine is the perfect way to find the 'dead' links of GW, BL, FW and so on. It can be used instead of 'live' links freely. In case when there is a dead link in Lexicanum and you found this same link in Webway Archive you may substitute the 'dead one' for the new one from Web Archive. The only one moment - I propose in this case add details after the link itself, for example (saved archive page, dated February 2011, last accessed 26 May 2019), where 'dated' means hte actual date of save in Web Archive, and 'last accessed' - the date of yours checking of it. Full source will look like this, for example:

" Strategy Cards for Planetary Empires expansion game, card "Hatred - Minor Stratagem", (saved archive page, dated February 2011, last accessed 6 October 2015) "--Darkelf77 (talk) 01:26, 26 May 2019 (MDT)

As you (GrumpyD) see we did not yet fix a standardized format. Darkelf's is better than the one I suggested because it reprises the date of the screenshot, so go with that. And I will enter it in the notes pages for the revamped Help pages. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 02:23, 26 May 2019 (MDT)
EDIT: I would nevertheless insist on adding the name of the page where it originally came from to be even clearer. So: Games Workshop: Strategy Cards for Planetary Empires expansion game, card "Hatred - Minor Stratagem", (saved archive page, dated February 2011, last accessed 6 October 2015) "

Yep, I agree.--Darkelf77 (talk) 02:31, 26 May 2019 (MDT)
