Talk:Graia Invasion

From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum

This article is lacking a bit in punctuation. And proper English partly. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 13:03, 20 July 2012 (CEST)

I'm aware of that and I will work on it. I would still appreciate some help from native speakers, though. - Rolz

If you get the sourcing and content part done, I'll give it a readover, drop me a line when you are finished. Although I guess the title is already a bit optimizable. Is that the official designation? --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 15:33, 20 July 2012 (CEST)

Ok, I will. Well not that it's ever been called like that, but characters always talk about 'invasion' so... I thought about calling it a 'Double invasion on Graia' or something like that. - Rolz

Problem is a bit that we are not really allowed to make up our own titles. There should be some kind of quote that refers to this battle, no? --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 09:06, 21 July 2012 (CEST)
Skimmed through spacemarine.com (texts and videos) and couldn't find a single instance, that the war on Graia has a special name. --DetlefK 13:31, 21 July 2012 (CEST)
I actually played the game itself and in it the conflict in only referenced as 'Invasion', sometimes Ork Invasion or Chaos Invasion. "The slave of the false Emperor was trying to save this planet from one invasion. Instead, he ushered in another.", stuff like that.--Rolz
If it hasn't got a special name, then we shouldn't make up one. Not even temporarily.
I suggest dissolving the article and moving its content to the game-page and/or the planet-page. --DetlefK 19:08, 21 July 2012 (CEST)
To the planet page under the section history I'd suggest. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 19:24, 21 July 2012 (CEST)
Seriously? Just because for some mysterious reason we can't create a page called Graia Invasion? Maybe Lexicanum just needs a template like the one on top of this article: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Yoda%27s_species --Rolz
It's not a mysterious reason, it's just not an official name. How are people even supposed to find this article if there is no name for it? They will of course look under "Graia", section "History". --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 00:56, 22 July 2012 (CEST)

I don't think there is nesc. a problem with giving this page this title, but if it isn't an official name - is there any reason NOT to just add it as info to the Graia page? The Lemur 01:55, 22 July 2012 (CEST)

It's just a ridiculous rule, that's all. Now, instead of just placing a few links (Oh, wait, I've already done that. There are links in all important places, including "Graia", section "History") we must choose between deleting almost everything about the Invasion and turning the Graia page into a crap. Oh well, do whatever you want. I'm out of here, got a goddamn army to paint. --Rolz
The rule is not ridiculous, it's the same rule that says that we are not allowed to make our own translations of GW terms into other languages if there is no official translation. Because if we do that people start using these terms and then what? Yep, idiots will start bashing the Lexicanum for making up stuff! There will always be a place for every information, but it has to adhere to the rules. If there is not enough place in "Graia" itself, then a link in its histors section is necessary leading to an expanded article like "Graia (History)" or sth like that. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 13:10, 22 July 2012 (CEST)
And so you named it. Behold - Graia (History). I'll write here when I'm finished so you can make a readover, ok? --Rolz
No. What is in parenthesis is not a name, it's an explanation, see for example disambiguation pages. But let's make a long story short: if you think you can't live with the rules here, I think we can save ourselves some trouble and you just leave, okay? Because I don't like the tone and I don't really see why I should waste my time with bothering. The rule is clear: Don't make up names. End of discussion. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum 22:39, 22 July 2012 (CEST)
Year, year, this is Lexicanum, you are very harsh and brutal, I got it. So, I can't create an article called Graia Invasion, I can't create an article called Graia (History). Is there any way whatsoever to create an article with all that stuff and not to put it in the Graia article? --Rolz

Depends really is this various invasions in a way that can be describbed as a single event or are they various invasions quite apart?--Ashendant 00:42, 23 July 2012 (CEST)

As I wrote in the article itself, it is a single three-sided conflict. --Rolz
Is there any short of descriptor said by the characters/promotion/text, that could be understood as a title/name.--Ashendant 16:05, 23 July 2012 (CEST)
