Tanthius (Terminator Sergeant)
Tanthius is a Terminator Sergeant in the Blood Ravens Third Company.[1a]
History
He fought in the Tartarus Campaign when the Company came to the aid of the beleaguered planet as it was being invaded by Orks. Tanthius was tasked with taking ninth squadron and shoring up the southern flank in the defense of Magna Bonum.[1] As events unfolded, Tanthius would aid his Company in fighting not only the Orks, but also the Eldar of Craftworld Biel-tan and the Alpha Legion as well, when the traitors began their plot to unlock the Daemonic Maledictum.[2] Tanthius fought valiantly through all of Mankind's enemies that ravaged the planet and participated in the final battle against the Alpha Legion, which saw the ascended Sindri Myr defeated. Afterwards, when the Blood Ravens departed Tartarus, Tanthius was presented with a master-crafted Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield that bear his name in honour of his ceaseless fight against the Chapter's enemies.[3]

Conflicting sources
In the first Dawn of War, Tanthius was found dead by the Blood Ravens after their victory over Warboss Orkamungus, in the completion cutscene for the campaign mission Destroy the Xenos, having been killed by the Alpha Legion during their battle with the Orks[2]. In the Dawn of War II wargear selection screen for the Arms of Tanthius, however, he is reported to have survived the campaign on Tartarus.[3]
