Techmites are small robots used by Necromunda's Ironhead Squat Prospectors.[1a]

Description

Ironhead Squats are naturally adept with technology, often creating robotic companions called Techmites to assist in various tasks like hunting and mineral detection. These robots are typically named based on their specialization or origin, such as the Jortlan K-12 Oculium Bot or the Svardish MkIII Auto-shifter.[1a]

Variants

  • Techmites Autoveyor are the standard robot models used by the Ironheads[3] and are loaded with multi-use tools. They are well-suited for snooping out credits and valuable scrap from nooks and crannies, and are used by Ironhead Claim Jumpers to help find unstaked mining sites and potential plunder in the Hive World's Ash Wastes. Techmite Autoveyors are often treated like pets by their Claim Jumper owners and none worthy of the title, would ever set foot in the Ash Wastes without their trusty scuttling machine-familiars.[1a]
  • Techmites Exovator 078B are hardy and robust robots that aid the Ironhead Squat Prospectors' Exo-kyn in their deep-core mining duties. They come in legged or wheeled variants, that are equipped with two mining tools and are encased in Ferramite armour, which makes the 078Bs more resilient than Techmite Autoveyors. If called upon to do so, the robots will fight beside the Exo-kyn to defend the Ironheads' many claims on the Hive World.[1b]
  • Techmites Oculi were developed to provide aerial surveillance for outriders and Claim Jumpers, helping scout new dig sites or potential threats to mining clans. Their agility and resilience make them valuable in navigating harsh outland winds, desert terrain, and hive interiors. Equipped with advanced sensor arrays, Oculi can identify threats and guide munitions to targets, leading to their widespread adoption by Squat engineers, Charter Masters, and Drill Masters.[1c]
