Template:BlackLibrary/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:BlackLibrary (see that page for the Template itself). It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original Template.

This template creates a link to a Black Library product page. A single product can have multiple urls depending on how Black Library generates a link to it. For example, a book link from the "New & Exclusive" page will look like "https://www.blacklibrary.com/new-titles/featured/ebook-name-of-book-2023.html". However if that book is removed from the "New & Exclusive" page, that exact url will no longer work.

This template uses the "/all-products/" namespace to attempt to get around this kind of link rot. It isn't perfect, as some old books get weird about their urls, but it works for probably 99% of them.

The first parameter can be derived from the last part of any Black library url. For example, if you navigate from the home page and get a url like "https://www.blacklibrary.com/prod-home/great-first-reads/ciaphis-cain-hero-of-the-imperium-ebook-2019.html", take the last bit, "ciaphis-cain-hero-of-the-imperium-ebook-2019.html" and use it as the first parameter for this template.
