The Great Purging

The Great Purging was one of the last campaigns fought during the Great Scouring and was the first Crusade launched by the newly created Black Templars Chapter.[1]
Led by High Marshal Sigismund, it sought to cleanse the Donatello System from the traitors infesting it and began with great success as the forces of Chaos were no match for the Black Templars' might. Eventually the traitors were overwhelmed by the Chapter and begin to flee - save for a force of Night Lords that refused to retreat from the System. In doing so, they brought the Templars' wrath down upon them and were completely destroyed, but this gave their fellow traitors enough time to escape into the Eye of Terror, leaving the Donatello System for the Imperium.[1]
