Thramas is a Hive World of the Imperium.[1]
History
By the time of the Horus Heresy Thramas was known as the Jewel of the East, having been the seat of empires for millennia and colonized long before the Age of Strife. Past governments of Thramas before the coming of the Imperium include the Centauran Republic, Tenebris Freehold, and Barony of Thrame. When the Imperium arrived they found it under the control of a ruler known as the Regent of Thramas and besieged by the horrors of Old Night. The Regent freely accepted Imperial rule in order to combat the Human Pirates and Xenos horrors scaled against them. Under Imperial rule Thramas was revitalized and became a center of the Eastern Fringe. Such was its importance that the Emperor himself once set foot upon the world during his campaign against the Khrave.[1b]
By the time of the Horus Heresy Thramas was the capital of the Thramas Sector and one of the most heavily fortified worlds of the Imperium, with the Thramassi Nightwatch as its core defence. Staunchly loyal to the Imperium, they remained true to the Emperor during the Horus Heresy.[1b] In the subsequent Thramas Crusade it was attacked by the Night Lords under Nakrid Thole. Thole initially landed on the world expecting surrender but instead ambushed, wounded, and forced to flee by the Imperial Army defenders. What endured was a brutal siege and blockade before Nakrid Thole was able to summon the Dark Mechanicum predator-world of Ulan Huda to devastate the planet.[1] Forces of the Dark Angels under Lion El'Jonson himself later arrived and managed to force Ulan Huda to flee back into the Warp before it could fully destroy Thramas. However following the sudden withdrawal of The Lion from the Thramas Warzone Thole was able to mount another attack on Thramas, this time capturing most of the planet. This forced the Dark Angels under Marduk Sedras to launch an orbital bombardment of the planet with Phosphex, killing all the Night Lords but also purging a loyalist planet.[1a]
