Thrax was a Forge World of the Imperium.[1]

History

In 762.M41, the planet became overrun by Daemons. It fell to Marneus Calgar, Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, to lead the remnants of his Chapter, still bled from the First Tyrannic War, to respond to the world's pleas for aid.[1] Calgar and his Ultramarines banished countless thousands of Daemons and managed to recover crucial data-records from the Manufactorum complexes,[1] efficiently destroying the Daemon-factories one by one to achieve victory.[2][Conflicitng sources] Alternatively, in the end, Calgar withdrew and issued Exterminatus upon the world.[1][Conflicting sources]

Trivia

Conflicting sources

The exact fate of Thrax is uncertain. Codex: Space Marines (5th Edition) says that Calgar issued Exterminatus upon Thrax.[1] However, Codex Supplement: Ultramarines (8th Edition) says that "[The Daemon-factories are] toppling like dominoes until at last, the Ultramarines stand triumphant over the smouldering ruins of the tainted world", implying the Ultramarines achieved victory without the use of Exterminatus.[2] Potentially, the Ultramarines achieved victory without Exterminatus, but then issued it anyway as the world was so tainted.
