The True Flame was a Blackshields warband during the Horus Heresy. Although they fought for the Imperium, their exact alignment was unclear.[1a] The True Flame's members wore black-bronze armour and their heraldry showcased a flame in a chalice.[1b]

History

The True Flame were one of the more obscure warbands which emerged during the chaotic Horus Heresy, with few of their operations well documented and their alignments usually unclear. The group first rose to some prominence during the years of warfare in the Beta-Garmon Star Cluster. In the course of the Imperial counter-offensive under Sanguinius, members of the True Flame were encountered during a battle on 116 Minoris-Garmon; they seemed aligned to the Loyalist cause at the time, and were thus allowed by the Blood Angels' Primarch to garrison the planet. However, the True Flame would abandon this position not long after, evidently pursuing their own goals.[1a]
