The Tuloschan Grey Companions were Khorne Traitor Guard Regiments, whose Homeworld was located in the Tulosc System.[1]

History

Their downfall began, when the once loyal Regiments started to secretly worship a dark god they called the Shadow Butcher. This was actually an aspect of Khorne and when the Companions were fully in his grasp, they conducted a Chaos ritual that unleashed the Chaos God's Daemonic hordes on their Homeworld. They then sought to do this on other Imperial worlds and in the wake of the Great Rift's creation, the Companions targeted the Death World Catachan. Posing as refugees seeking safety from the giant Warp Storm, the Companions joined other Regiments doing the same and each sought to make planetfall on the Jungle Fighters' Homeworld. However this occurred as Colonel Straken was organising the mustering of numerous Regiments of Jungle Fighters, to take part in the Indomitus Crusade. As such, space for the refuges was limited, especially since the Jungle Fighters did not believe the refugees were skilled enough to survive on the Death World.[1]

All except the Grey Companions themselves, as the Catachan's tribal rulers recognized the Regiments' great physical strength. Believing they could therefore take care of themselves, the Companions were allowed to land and were placed within the settlement Fort Traggan. The Fort housed several Jungle Fighters Regiments, but the Companions were left alone, save for a few dozen Catachans who acted as their guides and liaisons. Shortly after they arrived, however, the wrath filled Companions began their plans to bring Khorne's ruin down upon the Death World. They launched a surprise attack on Fort Traggan's Jungle Fighters, who quickly recovered and began fighting back against the now revealed Traitor Guard. The Companions had the upper hand though, as they used the deaths of the Jungle Fighters to power Chaos rituals that summoned forth Khorne's Daemon forces. With the aid of their Daemonic allies, the Companions killed Traggan's Jungle Fighters and destroyed the Fort. The Traitor Guard and Daemons then separated into groups and began to seek out the Catachans' other settlements to destroy or chose to wreak havoc on the Death World itself. However Colonel Straken received a garbled vox message from Fort Traggan before it fell and, having been forewarned, the Jungle Fighters were already mobilizing, before the invaders left the Fort's ruins.[1]

This began a war that lasted months, though the Grey Companions themselves, lasted only a matter of days on the Death World. Though powerful and backed by Khorne's Daemons, the Traitor Guard lost hundreds of its members to Catachan's predators, diseases and deadly traps and ambushes launched by the Jungle Fighters. Even as they did so, though, their deaths and those of the Jungle Fighters empowered Khorne's Daemons who fought on, long after the last of the Companions fell dead. Hundreds of Catachans died at their hands everyday, but the Jungle Fighters simply bore it and stepped up their attacks. Their Homeworld also seemed to strike back, as the Death World's deadly native life started to hunt down the invaders. By the time the Indomitus Crusade later arrived at Catachan for its Jungle Fighter Regiments, the Daemons had been vanquished and any corruption they caused had been expunged from the Death World's surface.[1]
