Urotriorchis is a Captain in the Shadow Hawks Chapter.[1b]

History

In late M41, the Shadow Hawks[1b] were tasked by the Ordo Xenos with capturing one of the Vespid's leader class strains that was still in its pupa stage.[1a] Urotriorchis was charged with carrying out the mission, with the Chapter's Tactical Squads Accipiter and Butastur, along with the Castraferrum Dreadnought Buteogallus.[1b] Imperial intelligence had provided the location of the pupa's isolated Vespid Hive to the Ordo, as well as that it was being taken outside to undergo "conditioning" at the hands of a team sent by the T'au Empire.[1a] The team was led by the Shas'el Commander Braun'wa[1c] and the Shadow Hawks knew he would be minutes away from reaching the pupa, when they began their mission. This meant they only had a short window to capture it, before the T'au Empire gained possession of the pupa[1a] or assembled a large force that would overwhelm the Shadow Hawks.[1d]

With the element of surprise on their side, though, the Space Marines were able to inflict heavy losses to the Mal'bas and Mal'aav Royal Bodyguard Stingwings, that were guarding the pupa. However the Shadow Hawks were unable to claim it from the surviving Stingwings, before Commander Braun'wa's forces arrived at the Hive. Fortunately for the Space Marines, they did so in a piecemeal fashion and Braun'wa[1c] along with most of his forces were slain. While they suffered little loses in return, the Commander's intervention kept the Shadow Hawks at bay long enough to prevent the Space Marines from capturing the pupa. With their time to complete the mission over, the Shadow Hawks had no choice but to retreat before more of the T'au Empire's forces arrived. Though they were able to escape, the Ordo Xenos were not pleased to learn of Urotriorchis' failure.[1d]

Trivia

Urotriorchis and his forces were created by the Games Workshop employee Jeff Hall. They were featured on an older version of Games Workshop's website.[1b]
