I am a passionate fan of the Warhammer 40k tabletop game, the lore, and the miniature crafting hobby (building, painting, and playing).
I first entered the world of 40k as a teenager back in 2001 and instantly fell in love. The tabletop game combined my love of arts and crafts with an easy-to-pick-up-hard-to-master strategy game (which allowed me to use egg cartons for scenery and dice raided from old board games to play!). The expansive narrative setting for the game captured my imagination through its combination of sci-fi and fantasy; anything was possible and anything could be just around the corner. The lore of the grim-dark future has been equally compelling and entertaining over the years (and very fun in the more Orky places of the galaxy). Each faction encounters unique and complex challenges with many twists and turns which reflect and satirise many all too human themes.
After a break of some years - in which I have lived and worked around the world and am now writing a PhD thesis in the field of history - friends and I have had the great pleasure of returning to the hobby. I have been extremely impressed by much of the work already completed here on Lexicanum, such as the quality of the writing and the rigour of requiring proper sources. My two main goals are to help tie together disparate events in the lore to deepen the understanding of the wider setting (GW aren't going to take the effort to print entire omnibuses to accompany each edition, codex, and publication so a searchable fan resource is so valuable!) and to tidy up the writing style of some sub-sections to elevate them to the same high standards throughout the site.
I have worked as a property manager, auditor for the probation service, English language teacher, and am now writing a PhD.
