Welcome to Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum! We hope you will contribute much and well. You will probably want to read the Help section. Again, welcome and have fun! Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 06:58, 19 June 2024 (UTC)

Hello. It very rarely is a good idea to start writing a brand new article from scratch as a new user. Simply because it is very rare that new users know what they are doing wiki-wise. Why don't you first have a look around a bit to see how things work, do some basic editing, add missing sources, read some articles in the Help section, try things in the Testing grounds instead?
In any case some of the most blatant problems I noticed at first glance:
- with the uploaded file: miniatures are never sculpted in lead. And I have never heard of that source. And even if it existed it would have to be formatted as an internal link and have a pagenumber.
- with the article: missing introductory summary, typos, no internal links, no categories, absolute wrong citation format, missing pagenumbers, personal speculation and/or missing sources for claims etc. pp.

- Hello, I don't know if I'm responding to this correctly (as you noted I'm new here, but I'm sorry I didn't see any of this until just now, so I'll try and respond systematically.
Yeah you're right, I should have figured stuff out first before just diving in, I apologize if I made any messes. I have a modicum of other-wiki experience so I was pretty gung-ho about it, but for what it's worth I had fun puzzling out how to make a page work (more-or less) with an article I doubted was gonna be able to cause problems while I tinkered with it. I think I will check out the resources you suggested now, but at least between.when.you sent that and when I'm reading it, I went over a ton of stuff from the Help section. And also yeah, I did not realize the testing grounds existed, thank you for letting me know. Yep, dunno where I got lead from, you are right. And the source was the English version of the German title of the source, since I was using some whacky research to figure out where the image came from, so it got mangled. Yep, gotcha, I will add a better summary now that the rest of it is I think worked out, but best I can tell I got everything else you mentioned patched up already. Thank you very much for reaching put, Best, Spleen
- By typing --~~~~ you can create a time-stamped automated signature for use on (user) talk pages. And I admit I am positively surprised comparing your first version of the article to the current one, quite good work there. I am sure I will still find something to nitpick here and there when I get around to give it a thorough look, but nothing that can't be worked out I guess. And not everything is written down (yet) in the Help section. --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 16:35, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't forget, that was the result of accidentally typing 5 tildes instead of 4 😜 --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 16:35, 19 June 2024 (UTC)
- I see, well I'm glad to hear that it cleaned up alright, I like to think I'm a quick study (by which I mean good at shamelessly stealing formatting stuff from other articles). And I mean, of course there are things to nitpick, please let me know.what I ought to change. Thank you for the input and the vote of confidence (let's see if I've got this worked out)--Spleenstealer (talk) 23:48, 19 June 2024 (UTC) Yep there we go.
Re: General information imparting and whatnot
- If you are doing work on a specific article that takes a bit longer you can insert the template {{WIP}} at the top. That is a signal that you are currently editing it. Obviously WIP isn't supposed to block articles for too long.
- The standard you should be striving for when writing is to summarize in your own words as far as possible, not going into excruciating details if it has no added value but also not leaving out relevant info. And without deviating into extrapolation or interpretation.
--Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 10:41, 20 June 2024 (UTC) I see, well I will do my best to achieve that, thank you for your advice! I had intended to finish my WIP in one fell swoop so I don't blame anyone for editing it while I was doing so, but I will keep that in mind. I am mostly annoyed at myself for not finishing it sooner and then the website refreshed and I lost my progress, hence why I kinda freaked out. But I appreciate you giving me an Official Answer(tm) -Spleenstealer (talk) 11:31, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- There is no obligation to use the WIP tag. And after a couple of times losing your data you'll just get used to make intermediate saves ;) --Inquisitor S., Großmeister des Ordo Lexicanum (talk) 11:42, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
- you can also just go back to "previous page“, right- click & cut your stuff, relog, past it. But what i really do is type my articles in Word beforehand. --Siegfriedfr (talk) 12:10, 20 June 2024 (UTC)
