Vengeance Weapons Battery
Vengeance Weapons Batteries are common defensive weapons platforms used by the Imperium. Fully automated, unlike their smaller Tarantula counterparts these platforms mount heavy weaponry, usually a Battle Cannon, a Punisher Cannon,[1][2] to engage infantry units or heavily armoured targets, or a quad Icarus Lascannon to shoot down enemy aircrafts.[3]
Vengeance Weapons Batteries are defended by thick plascrete walls, allowing them to withstand all but the most powerful weapons systems without any lasting damage and to continue to operate when all other human defenders have been killed or routed from the battlefield. Due to their robustness and ease of construction, Vengeance Weapon Batteries can effectively operate for hundreds of years without any maintenance.[3]
Vengeance Weapons Batteries are usually deployed in front of the main defensive line, serving both as an advance warning system and as an obstacle to drive enemy troops into pre-selected killing zones. Otherwise, they are used to defend locations of strategic importance to free up more mobile troops.[3]
In the past 10,000 years, countless billions of Vengeance Weapons Batteries have been constructed and they are still regularly deployed on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium.[3]
