Viss'el is Dead World in the Viss'el System, which lies near the Damocles Gulf^[1]

However this was not always the case, as the world had a different classification before it was attacked by the Imperium's Damocles Crusade. At that time, Viss'el was held by the T'au Empire and had clusters of the Xenos' orbital colonies in its orbit. But, the Viss'el System was only lightly-defended by the T'au and this made it a target for Damocles Crusade. This was during the Crusade's early attack phase, where it was invading T'au held areas near the Damocles Gulf, before its forces crossed through the region. When the Damocles Crusade's attack on the System was finished, it had been cleansed of the T'au's presence and Viss'el itself had been left devastated. Not only had the Crusade easily swept aside the world's orbital colonies,^[1] but it was struck with an orbital bombardment, when Viss'el was deemed to have no strategic value. This melted the world's polar ice caps and purged Viss'el of all life.^[2]
