Vorkosigen was a Tech-Adept Aspirant of the Adeptus Mechanicus active in the late 300's.M41. He was attached to the 7th Paragonian Super-heavy Tank Company of the Astra Militarum, as part of the crew of the Baneblade Mars Triumphant.[1a]

Biography

Vorkosigen, along with the rest of the 7th Paragonian, took part in the Kalidar War in 397.M41.[1a][1b] He notably did not get along with Lieutenant Colaron Bannick, a new crewmember assigned to Mars Triumphant after Third Gunner Vand was killed, believing that Bannick was a bad omen who would bring disaster for the tank.[1b]

In 328.397.M41, the 7th was stationed in Macaree's Tablelands on Kalidar IV, the tanks powered down for reactor maintenance. However, an ork warband used a dust storm as cover to attack the Imperial positions. Vorkosigen did not know the techno-arcana required to restart Mars Triumphant's reactor, so those crewmembers who had remained onboard during the maintenance cycle were forced to use the tank's small arms to prevent the tanks being boarded by orks. Despite their efforts, however, one of the orks made it to Mars Triumphant, climbing into the tank and attacking the crew.[1c]

After murdering Loader Marsello, the ork tried to kill Lieutenant Bannick. During the fight, however, Bannick had backed into a narrow corridor, allowing Vorkosigen to hit the beast in the back of its head with a spanner. Unable to turn around, Vorkosigen kept the ork distracted while Bannick disconnected one of the tank's lascannon power lines and electrocuted it.[1c]
