Faustus Interceptor

Faustus Interceptors are attack craft used for long-range patrol duties, operating as early-warning detectors for Imperial fleets.[1]

Description

One hundred paces long, Faustus Interceptors are lean, powerful crafts fashioned as serrated cathedral spires with their main engines set in flying buttresses. Besides the Imperial Eagle, Faustus Interceptors in service of fleets of the Segmentum Pacificus carry their insignia and green markings.[1]

Because of their early-warning role, Faustus Interceptors possess onboard astropaths, used for secure, long-distance communication. Powerful and fast for their size, Faustus interceptors can be armed with a variety of turreted ballistic cannons and a forward-locked plasma gun array.[1]

The Inerceptors can mount twin hypervelocity autocannons in the rear and in the chin or, alternatively, chin-mounted heavy bolters that fire one thousand shots per second.[1]

The Pilot is connected via mind-impulse links to the craft while seated in a command seat locked in place by hydraulic arrestor struts. The Pilot can communicate with the other crew members via intercom and has access to enhanced optics that allows spotting of other vessels over a distance of a thousand kilometres.[1]

Faustus Interceptors are also equipped with target-lock warnings, a vox, a sensor system connected to the astropath's brain and autoloaders for the weapons. If the Faustus' reactor interlocks are destroyed due to enemy fire, the resulting super-dense explosion reaches out to eighty kilometres and vaporises the Interceptor.[1]
