Barbican Class Liners are a type of ship used by the Imperial Navy.[1]

A barbican is a fortified outpost or fortified gateway, such as at an outer defense perimeter of a city or castle, or any tower situated over a gate or bridge used for defensive purposes.

A liner is a large ship that carries passengers or cargo over long distances.
