Antonius (Epistolary)

History

He was among the Ultramarines' forces that aided the Macragge System world Ameton Epsilon IV, after it was invaded by Tyranids[1f] in 853.M41, one hundred and fifty years after the First Tyrannic War's Battle of Macragge.[1a] When Lord Inquisitor Hull later took over the Imperium's efforts to save Epsilon IV, he sought to discover why the Tyranids had invaded the world. In his opinion, the Xenos were not acting as they had in previous invasions, as the Tyranids were not attempting to simply overwhelm and consume the world's population. Instead, Hull theorized the Tyranids were searching for something and charged Julius with using the Ultramarines to discover what it was. The Inquisitor then made Epsilon IV's Mount Antigonos a priority target to search, as it appeared as if the Tyranids were gathering there in large numbers.[1b]

The Ultramarines dispatched to Mount Antigonos confirmed this was true and the area contained heavy psychic activity as well.[1c] All of this evidence, led Inquisitor Lord Hull to determine that a Norn Queen was responsible for the activity on Mount Antigonos. However this Norn Queen was not part of the invasion, but instead had lain within the mountain since Ameton Epsilon IV's previous Tyranid invasion, two hundred and fifty years ago. Though the Norn Queen was thought to have been killed, when Mount Antigonos collapsed during the battle, the Ordo Xenos' research discovered it was possible for a deceased Norn to remain psychically active. Hull theorized that is what occurred and that the Norn's body served as a psychic beacon, which had drawn the Tyranids to the world once more. Though it was unclear what the Xenos intended to do with the Norn's body, Hull ordered that it be destroyed before they succeeded. Doing so would also extinguish the Norn's psychic beacon and end its threat to Epsilon IV.[1d]

But to ensure they were successful in destroying the Norn Queen's body, Inquisitor Lord Hull entrusted the Ultramarines' First Captain Julius with an anti-psyker Speculum Charge. When the bomb exploded, it would not only put an end to the Norn's psychic beacon, but would also kill any other psychic creatures that were caught in its blast or shock waves.[1e] However Julius and his First Company would remain in reserve with the Speculum Charge, until the Norn's body was found in Mount Antigonos. The Inquisitor then ordered the attack on the mountain and it was Antonius who successfully located a cave that led to the Norn. The First Company then teleported to its location with the bomb and charged into the cave. Meanwhile, the rest of the nearby Imperial forces defended the cave's entrance from the waves of Tyranids that began rushing towards it. However Antonius was among the many Imperials who were killed by the Xenos, before the Speculum Charge exploded and ensured the Tyranids were defeated on Ameton Epsilon IV.[1f]
