Aspect Shrine

Aspect Shrines, or Aspect Temples,[5b] are locations within the Craftworld, kept secret and only accessible via Webway Portals,[4] where Aspect Warriors train in their martial aspect and learn to embody their Aspect of Khaine.[1]

Exarchs live within Shrines and are their keepers: lighting incense, and managing their armoury, only they may open the Webway Portal entrance to its innermost chamber, which is connected via the Webway to all shrines of that aspect.[4] Exarchs are granted Thrones within their Shrines: the "Storm Throne" of the Howling Banshee, the "Raptor's Throne" of the Swooping Hawks, the "Flaming Throne" of the Fire Dragons, the "Fanged Throne" of the Warp Spiders, etc.[5a] Exarchs only emerge from their shrines in times of war or conclave.[1]

Aspect Warriors will often carry with them a symbolic relic of their shrine in order to observe proper rituals at all times. At minimum, they carry a meditative wraithbone icon, typically styled as a rune of significance to the Aspect. Others might carry battle rites, relevant poetry, or speeches of past heroes for reference.[3] The colours of their warrior costume are unique to their Shrine.[1]

The First Shrine was founded by Asurmen in the days following the Fall of the Eldar.[2]
