Astartes Assault Ship

Astartes Assault Ships were a type of light warship used by the Space Marine Legions during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy.[1]
These small but heavily armed warships were capable of operating inside a planet's atmosphere, allowing them to land directly on the surface and provide supporting fire for invading armies. When required, at least some examples could be detached from larger Space Marine Battle Barges in orbit.[1][2] The Death Guard seemed to favour these warships and had a number of known examples.[1][2]
Known Assault Ships
- Greenheart - Detachable Death Guard assault ship that could be launched from Battle Barges such as the Endurance and Terminus Est.[2]
- Omen - Relic Assault Ship of the Death Guard, used by Mortarion in the Battle of Isstvan III.[1]
