The Baleful Edict is a Grey Knights Strike Cruiser and serves as the base of operations for Strike Force Xiphos against The Bloom.[1][2]

History

Before The Bloom Campaign

Information found within the Barracks inside the Baleful Edict suggested that evidence from a codifier lex stamped on a superstructure or lex-code that the ship is possibly built in Jupiter's Orbit dating from the Grey Knights Founding.[3b]

Originally lead by Force Commander Agravain, he lead Strike Force Xiphos in a campaign against the Kaedium Blood Cult lead by a Khornate Daemon Prince named Erekhul on a Shrine-World called Gaheris. Agravain lead 3 battle brothers personally as they battle through countless cultits and Daemons of Khorne. Eventually Agravain personally slayed Erekhul and only Olric Iolanthus surviving the mission.[2]

The Bloom Campaign

Once The Khornate cult has been defeated, The new Commander of Strike Force Xiphos ordered Purifier Battle-Brother Ectar and Dominus Lunete for the Baleful Edict to return to Titan due to heavy casualties and damaged ship. Along the Journey back to Titan, they were intercepted by Kartha Vakir for an important mission on Koramar. Once the Grey Knights arrived on Koramar, they started purging corrupted cultists and poxwalkers with evidence suggesting a Plague of Nurgle affecting the sector. Vakir started her research and found out that a Plague is spreading and it will kill countless lives if they're not stopped. Despite Strike Force Xiphos being exhausted from the previous campaign they sworn to Vakir they will find and destroy the plague. Eventually Strike Force Xiphos found the source of the Bloom and its revealed to be Mortarion. At the Cost of Inquisitor Vakir's life they managed to enter the warp and fought Mortarion on a Unknown Location with the help of their Supreme Grand Master Kaldor Draigo. Mortarion retreated and multiple sectors are saved against his corruption.[2]

Ship Compartments

Strategium

Purifier Battle-Brother Ectar oversees the Strategium and he handles the Star Map with list of Sectors and Planetary View when the Baleful Edict arrived on the planet to assess the situation. Exclusive Personal Communication with Vardan Kai to request resources such as personnel, weapons and equipment.[3a]

Barracks

The Barracks can hold up to 20 Grey Knights[3c] and addittional 4 Officio Assassinorum personnel requested by Inquisitor Vakir.[5]

Manufactorum

Overseen by Dominus Lunete which handles the Baleful Edict upgrades and repairs. The Hanger Bay is also found within the Manufactorum which houses the Venerable Dreadnought.[3b][3c]

Libris Malleus

Library found within the Baleful Edict, it is used by Inquisitor Vakir to help researching the source of the Bloom and additional support for the Grey Knights to help gain any advantages against the Daemons of Nurgle and Death Guard.[3d] At some point in time Vakir requested Lunete, Ectar and Commander of Strike Force Xiphos to expand the Libary to include her private collections, The Commander approved and the libary was greatly expanded and it helped them during the Bloom Campaign.[3c]

Meditation Chamber

  • used by Strike Force Xiphos to help hone their skills during the Bloom Campaign.[3c]

Used by the Strike Force Xiphos Battle-Brothers to medidate after every mission to hone in their experiences to become better warriors.[3c]

Apothercarion

  • Stasis Chamber used to commune with dead Battle-Brothers and heed their wisdom beyond the grave.[3c]

  • Surgical Unit used by Apothecarians of Strike Force Xiphos to equip ehanced augmentations for Strike Force members wounded during the Blood Campaign.[3c]

  • Baleful Edict Regenaration Units used by Apothecarians to heal wounded members of Strike Force Xiphos at a faster rate.[3c]

Compartment handled by the Apothecarians of Strike Force Xiphos, a surgical unit is found here to equip wounded members with enhanced augmentations to help them during the Bloom Campaign. Addional equipment such as Stasis Chambers to help commune with dead battle brothers for wisdom and Two Regenration Unit to help with healing wounds at a faster rate.[3c]

Augmentation Chamber

  • Augmentation Chambers used to make new Servitors for the Baleful Edict Maintenance, Repair and Construction efforts.[3c]

Handles the creation of new Servitors for the Baleful Edict and stores additional contruction equipment to help with repairs and upgrades.[3c]

Augurium

  • Baleful Edict Augurium overseen by 5 Prognosticars from Strike Force Xiphos.[3c]

Handled and Overseen by the Prognosticars members of Strike Force Xiphos, Prognasticar Choir have the ability to monitor and even supress the Bloom on sector's they're assigned to.[3c]

Mechanical Bay

handles additional upgrades towards the Hanger Bay to accomodate the Venerable Dreadnought stationed there and Pious Absolution.[3c][4]

Ship Components

Plasma Reactors

  • Plasma Reactors found within the Baleful Edict used to power up the ship.[3c]

Plasma Reactors are used to power the Baleful Edict and stronger reactors help with powering up more ship compartments and components found within the Baleful Edict.[3c]

Warp Drive

  • Baleful Edict Warp Drives at full power.[3c]

Warp Drive is used to travel through the warp and Lunete upgraded it as time goes on during the Bloom Campaign that makes it faster to travel within the warp.[3c]

Enhanced Gellar Field

Additional upgrades for the Baleful Edict's Gellar Field that prevents Warp Storm risks.[3c]

Void Shields

  • Baleful Edict Void Shields at maximum power.[3c]

Helps mitigate damage towards the Hull of the Baleful Edict against the Deathguard's fleet and Warp Storm risks.[3c]

Gun Batteries

Weapon Systems used by the Baleful Edic for ship to ship combat against the Death Guard Fleets.[3c]

Exterminatus

The Baleful Edict has the ability and with the Authority from Commander of Strike Force Xiphos to declare exterminatus and housing two Atmospheric incinerator torpedo with one of them being rushed and incomplete but still capable to destroy an entire planet.[3c].

Escort

  • Pious Absolution dual roles as an Escort for the Baleful Edict and Intercepting Death Guard Incursions during the Bloom Campaign[4]

The Baleful Edict is escorted by the Pious Absolution, a Gladius Frigate who was thought to be lost in the warp but recovered by Strike Force Xiphos during their Campaign against the Bloom.[4]
