Battle Group Faustus, Fleet Secundus

Battle Group Faustus is a part of Indomitus Crusade Fleet Secundus, which was initially sent to take part in the Thranx Purge.^[1]

History

When the Battle Group entered the Bosphori System as part of the Thranx Purge, Task Force Faustus III was split off from the rest of the group to recapture the void docks over Bosphori Deo from the Thousand Sons. Multiple more Battle Group elements were deployed to Bosphori Praxmial and Bosphori Agemnus, and some to the nearby Calyopean Sound as well.^[1]

The Battle Group soon noticed that an Alpha-class Rogue Psyker named Darian Pellor (a.k.a. 'The Grey Prophet') and his Chaos Cult had taken control of the orbital shield platforms in the Macharian Belt, the asteroid-mining facilities of the Bosphori System. While the majority of Battle Group Faustus's forces were engaged elsewhere in the system, with Task Force Faustus III requesting reinforcement, the presence of an entity^{[Note 1]} awakened by the Cult posed enough threat to the Battle Group that Task Force Faustus IV was created to combat it.^[1]

By Tempus Indomitus Local - 24th Day Sidereal, the battle group had split into at least four Task Forces. This was recorded and archived by Metascrivener Pho Cassys. At this time, the Battle Group had taken 26% casualties and reinforcements from Battle Group Erastus were 16 days sidereal overdue, while the probability of a catastrophic empyric event was evaluated to be 53%.^[1]

• Task Force Faustus III: Created when the battle group entered the Bosphori System. Included Minotaurs, 18th Vanstarian Raiders, and a Lance of House Griegoris Knights.^[1]
• Task Force Faustus IV: Created in response to a threat redacted by the Inquisition. Included 86th Delphic Serpents, Minotaurs Strike Force Abrecht, 3 Squads of a redacted nature, 3 Maniples of Adeptus Mechanicus combat Servitors under Magos-Abjuratis Phetturclak, and a Commandery of Sisters of Battle from the Order of Our Martyred Lady, supported by fleet elements. Led by Canoness Justyne.^[1]

Notes

• Note 1: While the original source marks the nature of this entity as [REDACTED] by the Inquisition, it is likely that the entity is some kind of Tzeentchian daemon due to the fact that it was summoned by a Chaos Cult operating in the same system as the Thousand Sons. Three [REDACTED] squads are also sent to combat it; it's possible that these are squads of Grey Knights.
