Battle Group Forthrax is part of Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quartus.[1a]
History
It was once led by Groupmaster Kelmer, a nobleman who led the battle group to a string of increasingly improbable victories over the Cults of the Ysmar Sub-sector. This led him to order a full-scale attack on the Chaos-held Stygion System, despite his advisors counseling a cautions approach. What followed was a disastrous battle, as the Alpha Legion and Night Lords launched a successful ambush of the Battle Group. Kelmer was among those that were killed and Chapter Master Yosharo DuGal takes command. While he was able to lead them out of the System, over a third of Forthrax's strength was lost to the Traitor Legions. This disastrous battle became known as Kelmer's Folly and was a black mark of shame upon Indomitus Crusade Fleet Quartus' history.[1a]
During the Battle of Malak, 80% of Battle Group Forthrax was destroyed during the battle or corrupted by the Murder Curse that came from the destruction of the Choral Engine.[1d]
