Benefictus^[1]

A Benefictus is a type of powerful Genestealer Hybrid Psyker.^[1]

Description

A Cult Benefictus usually appears around the same time as Hybrid Metamorphs^[2] in the fourth generation as the Cult readies itself for war.^[3] Whereas Metamorphs are evolved solely for frontline combat, Benefictus' draw upon the power of the Broodmind and manifest considerable psychic abilities.^[2] They are created through careful selection of a Genestealer Cult's psi-capable gene-stock by its Broodmind. This gives the Benefictus an incredibly swollen brain which allows them to focus the Broodmind's dispersed psychic energies into raw telekinetic force. They rival a lascannon for sheer destructive power and the shockwaves from their blasts' impacts carry echoes of the Broodmind's telepathy. These unleash waves of psychic horror and hallucination, which will cause the Genestealer Cult's foes to recoil.^[1]

Besides obliterating enemies, a Benefictus can also use their psychic talent to blast open vaults, breach bunkers, and prematurely hunt down Inquisition or Enforcer patrols. It often appears in cults which for whatever reason have not been able to plunder large amounts of conventional weaponry, tanks, and artillery from local Imperial depots. Due to the Psychic Awakening, Benefictus' are appearing in larger numbers than previously seen.^[2]
