- Caelo Octavius [1b]

Caelo Octavius is a Devastator Centurion Sergeant of the Ultramarines Chapter's 2nd Company.[1b]

History

Caelo Octavius[1b]

He is skilled in his craft and Octavius also has a natural talent for target selection. In battles, this allows the Sergeant to spot and eliminate any enemy that poses the greatest threat to him. Octavius struck fear in the forces of Nurgle, during the Plague Wars because of this, as the obscuring toxic clouds they unleashed did not trouble the Sergeant. Sometime after the Plague Wars, though, Octavius was tasked with using his talents in a Indomitus Crusade Fleet. He would go on to aid the fleet[1b] in reclaiming many of the Imperium's lost worlds.[1a] But the Sergeant's most famous battle in the Crusade, occurred as the fleet's deployed forces were fighting near the Catachan System. Though they were already engaged with one foe, the fleet suddenly encountered the vindictive Asuryani warriors of Craftworld Biel-Tan. The Xenos then began attacking the fleet and the Craftworld's Wraithknights decimated the Imperials' battlelines. This caused the fleet's Space Marine Commander to order Octavius to use his superior targeting skills to guide a squadron of Stormtalons against the Asuryani. The Sergeant proceeded to do so with peerless accuracy and the gunships struck the Xenos' critical enemy strongpoints. Octavius also directed the Stormtalons to the Craftworld's Wraightknights and the towering war machines were brought down by the gunships.[1b]

However, the Sergeant's service was nearly ended, sometime after that battle, when the fleet was ambushed by the Prophet's Black Legion warband. This left its Commander with no choice but to order the fleet's warships to escape into the Warp. Despite doing so, however, the Sorcerer Lord tracked them within the Warp and launched an attack on the Commander's Battle Barge flagship. But as his forces fought the Imperials, the Prophet began secretly summoning Daemons within the Battle Barge. They materialised throughout the flagship and once he was done, the Sorcerer Lord ordered his warband to withdraw. Shortly afterwards, the Daemons caused catastrophic damage to the Battle Barge and the Commander enacted an emergency exit from the Warp.[1a]

While the Crusade Fleet survived doing so, it was left scattered within a sector of the Imperium Nihilus.[1a] The Commander then began regrouping his forces and as he did so,[1c] he learned that that very same sector was now being invaded by the Prophet. The Commander then led Octavius and the rest of his forces against the Sorcerer Lord's warband, in order to save the sector's worlds.[1d] Thanks to the Commander's leadership, the fleet was able to foil[1f] the Prophet's plot to pull the sector into the Warp,[1e] though the Sorcerer Lord escaped before the Imperials could kill him.[1f] The vengeful Prophet then sought to free the imprisoned Daemon Prince Halphas, so that he could destroy the fleet and its Commander.[1g] However, despite succeeding in doing so, the Imperials defeated the Daemon Prince. Afterwards, the Commander confronted the Prophet and once again defeated the Sorcerer Lord.[1h]
