Chromyd System
The Chromyd System is a star system of Imperial space located in the Charadon Sector.[1]
Overview
Part of the Obolis Sub-Sector, the Chromyd System holds great strategic significance for the nearby major Forge World of Metalica - in addition to its multiple Agri- and Mining Worlds, it is one of the endpoints for Barlech's Channel, a warp route that links Obolis to the Charus Sub-sector.[3a]
History
In the wake of the Noctis Aeterna, the system had recently been reinforced in response to raids by the Dark Eldar. However, the Imperium's forces were stretched out over a wide area, due to the nature of the Xenos' rapid and unpredictable strikes. This left the Chromyd System vulnerable during the Death Guard's Charadon Campaign, and allowed the Chaos Lord Thraxoplasmox's warhost to successfully invade the system.[1][3b]
Worlds
- Masseda Ultis — Fortified void-city.[1]
- Sabhira — Death World.[1]
- Vastrapol — Agri World.[1]
- Torthusa — Agri World.[1][3b]
- Okharium — Industrial World.[1][3b]
- Martyr's Rest — Mausoleum World.[1]
- Dyroch's Reach — Hive World. It is in proximity to a stable (Beta Level) warp route, which leads to Barlech's Channel. The defence platforms and monitoring stations watching over the route fall under Dyroch's Reach's jurisdiction.[1]
Trivia
Conflicting sources
- The maps of the Chromyd System given in two sources ([1],[2]) are very different to each other. Notably, the second of these lists a number of planets that other sources give as being in the Alumax System.[3b] It is therefore likely that the map in White Dwarf 461 is mislabelled as Chromyd and in fact is meant to be labelled as Alumax.
