Overview
Any Imperial citizen might find a use for these devices, regardless as to whether they're a middling underhiver[3a] or a Custodian of the Emperor.[2] While a citizen of any means might carry a dependable hand-held or wrist-worn timepiece, those with fancier versions might be able to link into planetary datastreams for greater precision.[4]
Although chrons are fairly mundane devices, they're enough of a luxury to be used as collateral for a loan, in some cases.[3a] Some Imperials might subtly flaunt their wealth with a finely crafted timepiece attached to a waistcoat via a golden chain. Intermittently checking their chron to casually flash such a luxury to those around.[3b]
Imperials might use the phrase "round-the-chron" when doing an activity at seemingly all hours of the day or non-stop.[3c]
