Cygnax V, known simply as Cygnax, is a Dead World of the Cygnax System in the Maelstrom Zone, at the galatic south of the Golgothan Wastes and north of the Sagan Subsector.[1a]
In 577.M41 during the Badab War, this important Imperial Hive world fell into civil war due to the rebellion of heretical death cults and the Reborn intervened on the side of the insurgents. In turn, the Mantis Warriors landed to assist the Imperial loyalists. With the backing of the Reborn, however, the death cults seized Cygnax's massive arsenal of atomic and plasma weaponry and unleashed it to kill every living being on the planet. The Death of Cygnax destabilized the entire Maelstrom Zone for decades.[1b]
