Cyrius
Lord Commander Cyrius was a Space Marine Commander of the Emperor's Children. He was the second to kill Lucius the Eternal, and was later damned to being trapped within his victim's armour for all eternity.
History
Cyrius was Chemosian by birth, inducted into the Emperor's Children Legion after Fulgrim's rediscovery. He quickly earned a reputation as an excellent swordsman and intelligent warrior, thus rising in the Primarch's favour. Notably, Cyrius was among the seven Legionaries that accompanied Fulgrim during the compliance of Byzas.[4]
Cyrius turned traitor during the Horus Heresy, and cemented his reputation as one of the greatest swordsmen of his legion.[5] He became known as the "Infamous Lord Commander Cyrius".[1][2] He fought in the Siege of Terra, during which he was separated from his sworn protector Egil Galerius.[3a]
Death
At some point during the Great Scouring,[3b] Cyrius took part in the legion's gladitoral games and killed Lucius, something thought impossible due to Lucius's inhuman skill and seeming unstoppable combat style. He did manage to defeat the depraved individual, but his victory was short-lived. The Prince of Pleasure, not willing to let such a promising protege die, turned Cyrius slowly and painfully into Lucius over a matter of weeks: "His hair fell out in clumps, and dark lines appeared under his flesh, slowly pushing through his skin as a maze of scar tissue. Soon Lucius had emerged completely, and all that remained of his executioner was a screaming, writhing face, subsumed for eternity into Lucius's armour".[1][2]
