Haunts are a type of sanctioned psyker specialist used in Necromunda's Palanite Enforcers.[1]

Overview

Haunt Psyrender (left) and Bonecrusher (right)[1]

Their origins are unclear; while their psychic powers are clearly advanced enough to warrant the need for the sanctioning they clearly have, ordinarily, sanctioned psykers are, by definition, taken by the League of Black Ships to the Scholastia Psykana, and graduates trained as battle-psykers (as haunts appear to be) are assigned to the Imperial Guard. If this is the origin of haunts, it would mean Lord Helmawr has somehow succeeded in convincing Necromunda's Imperial Guard regiment to hand its battle-psykers over to him for his police forces.text-middle[Help]

Developed specifically to counter psykers, haunts are sanctioned psykers who specialize in not only countering their own kind but also interrogation. They are forced to endure hypno-indoctrination and programming to ensure their loyalty, and are utterly incapable of violating orders. When not locked away in chambers covered with protective wards deep within precinct-fortresses, they are locked in suits of psycho-reactive armour designed to help control and focus their abilities.[1]

Haunts come in two varieties:[1]

  • Bonecrushers: Powerful telekinetics who can generate forcefields and crush enemies with a thought.[1]
  • Psyrenders: Formidable telepaths who specialize in taking information from the minds of their foes, projecting hallucinations, and turning enemies against one another.[1]
