Eurac V was an observation station located on the outskirts of the Rykad System in the Koronus Expanse. It was sacrosanct, a holy domain of Navis Nobilite House Orsellio, rendering the station off-limits to visitors.[1a]
The station was the site of experiments conducted on lowborn individuals who had lost their sanity due to a Navigator's gifts, with the goal of extending the lives of Navigators. It also housed an extensive archive that could be used to train young Navigators.[1a]
At the time of the arrival of the Rogue Trader from House Winterscale following the loss of the Duchess Iolanthe, the station was found to be infested with Chaos corruption. The infestation was initially studied by Fortunata Orsellio. During these events, the station experienced numerous decompressions, generator overheating, and cogitator failures, which were sabotaged by officers aboard the station. One notable incident was the explosive decompression of the living quarters, resulting in the deaths of 200 servants. Eventually, these events culminated in an assassination attempt on Cassia Orsellio and the massacre of Eurac V.[1a]
