Garranox is an Imperial Industrial World, that lies on the fringes of the stellar Realm of Ultramar.[1]
History
Garronox lies on the Western Edge of Ultramar, a region which saw heavy fighting during the Plague Wars. While the forces of Nurgle were eventually repulsed, the area remains devastated and many lingering malignancies endure. As a result, industrial output has been greatly reduced but was subsequently rejuvenated during the Ultramarian Reclamation. Some, such as those in the Ecclesiarchy, lobbied the Governor against formal reintegration into Ultramar, but these voices were overruled. In the aftermath, tensions with Frateris Militia and those in favour of the Administratum broke out. The tensions spilled over into discontent amongst the abused labourers of the world, who rose in revolt under a being known only as The Harbinger who declared he was an agent of the Emperor to deliver the common people from tyranny. In truth, the Harbinger was an agent of the Black Legion lieutenant Jordax Quan, who to subjugate the planet deployed Night Lords under Dargon Vorak on the world to sow instability and rally Cultists.[2]
The division soon spread even to the Ecclesiarchy, with the pro-Macraggian faction being led by the Priest Malvolian and the traditionalists led by the Confessor Ferdian Montcour. Into this mayhem stepped the Sisters of Battle garrison of the Order of Our Martyred Lady under Canoness Hortencia, which ultimately rejected pledging to either side and instead began their own campaign to purge Garranox of instability. To try and hunt down the Harbinger, Hortencia deployed a Celestian Insidiant force known as the Abstersionists.
[Help]
In M42, a tomb complex of night-black stone was discovered on Garranox and work crews were sent to it. However, soon afterwards they began experiencing nightmares and portents of death. This was further spurred on by a Rogue Psyker-turned prophet named the Harbinger, who appeared at the tomb and began doomsaying to the work crews. Local Celestian Insidiant Battle Sisters of the Adeptus Sororitas Order of Our Martyred Lady were then sent to bring down the dangerous Heretic. But Black Legion Murderwings who had been charged with disrupting the Realm of Ultramar learned of this and they attacked the Celestians at the tomb complex. However, even as both sides now fight each other, they are unaware that an ancient power lurks beneath Garranox and it could bring far greater death and destruction to the world.[1]
