Ghurz of the Grand Icon is a Khorne Dark Apostle, in the Iron Butchers Warband, which is part of the larger Gore-forged Warband.[1]

History

However everyone in the Warbands know the Iron Butchers are the Daemon Prince Vorghor's followers first and foremost. The only way a Gore-forged leader maintains his position is by dominating his followers, but should a new champion join the Warband, then a power struggle is all but guaranteed to break out. Such was the case when Vorghor joined and it is only a matter of time until the Daemon Prince attempts to physically wrest control of the Gore-forged from its current leader, Ar'ghurak.[1]

In the battlefield, the Dark Apostle heralds the coming of Vorghor himself and Ghurz also carries the Daemon Prince's Chaos Icon as well. He has Dark Disciples that serve him and two sword wielding Chaos Cultists, known as Blood-monks, accompany Ghurz into battle. They are untested aspirants, who seek to prove themselves worthy of the Temple Blades, that have been loaned to them. Should both Blood-monks survive the battle they accompanied Ghurz into, then they are sworn to duel each other to the death.[1]

Trivia

The Gore-forged and the Iron Butchers were created by the Games Workshop employee James Ashbey, for the White Dwarf magazine's 2023 A Tale of Four Warlords competition.[1]
