Hive Fleet Harbinger color scheme^[2]

Harbinger is a Tyranid Hive Fleet.^[1][3]

History

Hive Fleet Harbinger was first encountered on AugurX and was differenced by the unusual number of divergent biofroms and biomorphs, some never encountered outside of it. Hive Fleet Harbinger is a smaller fleet encountered only rarely and primarily by the Draco Legion,^[3b] though among their encounters were several mutated Hive Tyrants including one covered in Nematocysts, and another with a Venomous Sting which could rend through the armour of a tank.^[3b] A splinter fleet of Harbinger is known to have consumed the Forge World of Arcetri.^[1]

Divergent Bioforms

Hive Fleet Harbinger produced an unusual number of rare Bioforms, which despite their unique appearance would often appear beside simmilarly-outfitted species for which they roughly served the same role.^[3b]

Brain Crab

The Brain Crab was crustacean-like Zoanthrope variant with an exposed brain on its underbelly.

Hive Warden

The Hive Warden was a quadrapedal Tyranid of a simmilar size and strength to a Carnifex.

Ripper Wings

Rippers with Gargoyle-like wings.^[3b]

Stalkers

Stalkers were Hormagaunt-like quadrepeds.^[3b]

Swarm Mother

Swarm Mother^[3c]

Swarm Mothers were incredible creatures about as strong as a Tyranid Warrior which appeared often besides Ripper swarms, their bodies contained Living Hives.^[3b]

Spiked Carnifex

The Spiked Carnifex was a rare mutation of Carnifex with bone-like growths growing from its back.

Hive Fleet Harbinger was created by American hobbyist Sherman Bishop.^[3b]

The Citadel Journal 37 included 3rd Edition rules for the rare biomorphs of Hive Fleet Harbinger, several of which would later become published biomorphs including Acid Spray, Regeneration, and by different names some which could be considered precursors to yet more biomorphs: the "Venomous Sting" to the Heavy Venom Cannon, the "Nematocysts" to a Stinger Salvo, and the "Living Hive" to the Fleshborer Hive. Hive Fleet Harbinger is the only Hive Fleet yet known to Burrow.^[9]
