Heyd Calder
Heyd Calder is a Lieutenant of the Imperial Fists 3rd Company[1a].
History
A Huscarl, Calder was assigned to lead a force of Imperial Fists, Raven Guard, and White Scars to the Cardinal World of Almace at the behest of Cardinal-Governor Eamon, who was under attack by the Word Bearers Chaos Lord Amatnim Ur-Nabas Lash.[1a] Upon arriving at Almace alongside Suboden Khan and Lieutenant Sael Karros, he navigated the political intrigue of the Ecclesiarchy court as he attempted to fortify Almace against the incoming Word Bearers invasion.[1b]
Calder is shocked to discover that Eamon was harboring a seemingly loyalist Word Bearer Dreadnought beneath Almace for millennia, dubbed The Anchorite, and that the Word Bearers were there to retrieve him.[1c] In the final battle against the Word Bearers, Calder led a desperate attempt on the Ecclesiarchy palace walls, holding the Cardinal Gate as The Anchorite was freed by Eamon.[1d] As the Word Bearers breach the walls, Calder confronted Amatnim and engaged him in a duel. Amatnim is able to hold off Calder, but is beset upon by The Anchorite. Amatnim experiences a spiritual crisis after witnessing Anchorite's divine powers and willingly allows Calder to kill him.[1e]
Calder oversaw a loyalist victory on Almace, but at heavy cost.[1e]
