Hold Ships are a type of warship used by the Leagues of Votann.^[1a]

Description

Hold Ships are titanic vessels, rivalling a large asteroid in size, resembling a truncated triangle when viewed from above and a shallow rhomboid when viewed from side-to-side and front-to-back. Most of their mass is concentrated in the aft section, where banks of engines, stellar in output, are situated. Most of the crew habitats a superstructural keep that rises above the engineering decks, defended by defence turrets^[1a] firing yellow laser blasts^[1d] and cannon-batteries^[1a] like plasma launchers^[1c] and Ion arrays^[1e] with the power to destroy moons and squadrons of smaller spacecrafts.^[1a] Hold-Ships also armed with torpedoes and defended by defensive shields.^[1c]

Hold Ships have a main corridor, running the third of their length from front to back. On the roof of the corridor, an elevated carriage system is mounted.^[1a] They also have a Fane, encased in a near indestructible yet plainly decorated case to not draw the attention of potential borders. Still as a last resort, the chamber hosting the Fane also has a potent self-destruct mechanism, flooding the chamber with plasma to prevent any unauthorised access by destroying all equipment.^[1b] Hold Ships have a primary dock capable of accommodating lesser spacecrafts, up to twenty Pioneer Ships at a time.^[1a]

Some Hold Ships have been adapted for capture operations in hazardous environments, such as inside of stars. This might be done in order to perform pirate raids on various Necron Fleet vessels, typically choosing weak targets.^[2]
