Ion Cannon
From Warhammer 40k - Lexicanum
(Redirected from Ion Scattercannon)
The Ion Cannon is a powerful Tau weapon mounted on large vehicles and starships.
The Ion Cannon itself operates by generating a stream of high-energy ionised particles and launching them at a target using an electromagnetic field. These particles react explosively with the target, transferring tremendous energy at the atomic level.[1][2] The resulting vaporisation only magnifies the amount of damage dealt, with starship-based models comparable to Imperial Lances.[3]
Variants
- Long-Barreled Ion Cannon - Mounted on the Manta[7]
- Tri-Axis Ion Cannon - Triple Barreled version mounted on the KX139 Battlesuit[6]
- Heavy Ion Cannon - Mounted on Tau Navy ships.[4]
- Ion Scattercannon - Mounted on Warmaker battlesuits[8]
